The region is home to The LEGO Group's first U.S. manufacturing facility—a transformational investment exceeding $1 billion—as well as Sabra's flagship production campus, the world's largest hummus manufacturing facility. The Richmond MSA is also rapidly establishing itself as a hub for advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, anchored by Eli Lilly's multibillion-dollar investment. Complementing these industry leaders is a diverse economy that includes 12 Fortune 1000 headquarters, a nationally recognized financial services sector, expanding technology and data center operations, and a strategic East Coast logistics network, making the region an ideal location for both domestic and international companies pursuing growth in the U.S. market.

Success Snapshot

CoStar Group sought a location that could support the company's long-term growth with access to exceptional talent, an urban environment and strong public-private partnerships. Working alongside state and local partners, GRP helped facilitate the company's continued expansion in Downtown Richmond, resulting in a $460 million corporate campus that will accommodate up to 4,000 employees. The investment has become a catalyst for the riverfront's transformation, spurring complementary mixed-use development, new entertainment venues, restaurants, housing and renewed momentum throughout Downtown Richmond.

Perspective

Talent availability continues to be the defining factor in corporate location decisions, alongside increasing demand for resilient infrastructure, speed-to-market and ready-to-develop sites.

Companies are navigating an increasingly complex site selection landscape shaped by evolving public policy, changing economic conditions and heightened community expectations. Beyond traditional factors like talent, infrastructure and operating costs, successful projects increasingly depend on stakeholder alignment, community engagement and the ability to secure local support while maintaining project timelines.
